The right business premises should support the way your organisation operates. A shop, an office and a space for a client-facing team can have very different priorities.
Map the working day
List how many people use the space, what equipment you need and how customers or visitors will arrive. Consider deliveries, storage, meeting areas and the movement of people through the premises.
Think about access and visibility
Visit the approach roads and look at entrances, parking and nearby activity. For a retail business, consider whether the frontage and surrounding businesses fit your intended customer experience. For an office, think about staff commutes and visitor access.
Plan the fit-out conversation
Discuss the work needed before occupation, any building restrictions and which changes require the owner’s permission. Ask for written confirmation that the intended use is permitted and review relevant requirements with a qualified professional before committing.
